Antenatal Clinics
If you are expecting a baby please get in touch with the midwives via reception at either site.
- New Tredegar - Wednesday morning from 09.00 - 12.00
- Rhymney- Tuesday afternoon from 12.00
Blood Pressure Clinics
Healthcare Assistants undertake BP checks but feel free to use the blood pressure machine provided in the waiting room at New Tredegar to self test your blood pressure.
Child Health
The health visitors offer a baby clinic on Tuesday afternoons at New Tredegar from 14:00 – 16:00. No appointment is needed for this clinic.
Babies are invited for immunisations with the practice nurse on Tuesday afternoons in New Tredegar and Thursday morning in Rhymney, patients will be invited by letter from Community Health Dept.
Fasting Glucose or Cholesterol Blood Tests
If your doctor or nurse informs you, that you need a glucose or cholesterol blood test — you are required to fast beforehand. Fasting means nothing to eat or drink after 21:00 the previous day except water, unless told otherwise.
Minor Surgery
Dr Neil James and Dr Andy Dalrymple perform Minor Surgery clinics at the Rhymney site.
We can perform the removal of moles, cysts, toe nails and other minor procedures. A doctor’s appointment must be made first to check the problem, then your name will go onto a waiting list and an appointment will be allocated.
Nursing Services
Our nurses continue to develop our nurse-led services. They take a lead role in managing chronic conditions such as asthma, diabetes, high blood pressure and heart disease & warfarin therapy.
Minor illness and treatment room clinics (e.g. dressings, ear-syringing etc.) are run daily by the nurses.
Well Woman and Travel clinics are run weekly.
The Practice nurses also offer health education to help maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Phlebotomy Clinics are held every day in Rhymney and New Tredegar. These clinics are held from 08:30 - 12.00 in both surgeries.
